WHERE WERE UN MONITORS IN 2008 TO WITNESS NEW BLACK PANTHER PARTY VOTER INTIMIDATION?

” Be your OWN Superhero!”
( NEW ORLEANS ) President Barack Obama will be here July 25th to address the National Urban League conference and have a campaign fund raiser at the famed House of Blues.
I suggest he donate left over food from this fundraiser as a tangible way to touch desperate lives beyond distant policy making and social service delivery.
The CBD area where this will be held is quite a study in stark contrasts: people asleep on the sidewalk; begging food money in front of fast food places and asleep in doorways of closed businesses at night.
I call this ” micro-good. ” Whatever meals this provides won’t end New Orleans hunger forever. That’s something we must do whenever our hearts and political will reach that zenith.
One more unsolicited request: have the President give out some of the food. This one act will say more about his stance on combating poverty than all the budget items argued in Congress.
Mr President, this one proposed act of micro-good could set a presidential precedent for generations!
As my late grandmother and Obama supporter used to say on the eve of great events, ” This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it! ”
NOTE: If you think this is a good idea suggest it to the Obama reelection campaign:

WHEN YOUR ABILITY TO HELP IS ON PAUSE???
Heaven Sutton was killed while selling candy on her front yard
Chocolate klansmen recently murdered yet another innocent Black child, Heaven Sutton of Chicago. That this tragedy occured in President Obama’s home town hasn’t been lost on critics from the Right.
My take is slightly different on this case. When my personal chocolate klan watch zeroed in on this case I noted once again that it illustrates the limits of Obamaism.
Milliseconds after the president’s historic victory role model proponents touted it as a near-biblical paradigm shift for inner city Black families.
Filled with symbolic pride chocolate klansmen and peers would stride purposefully away from violence; drugs and career dysfunction to become solid citizens patterned after the new arrival in the Oval Office.
It didn’t quite work out that way. Obamaism failed to convert millions. That’s not the president’s job nor is ongoing urban carnage his fault.
Thinking Black male criminals are lemmings needing the right rhetorical rodent to lead them is the problem. Criminals while Black are free moral agents just like thugs of any other color.
Assuming less is archaic racism of the first order! Chocolate klansmen are murderous; larcenous vandals because they choose to be. There isn’t some White Republican in the wood pile hidden away shoving bribes and guns into their hands to occupy the inner city.
Americans while Black holding chocolate klansmen accountable will save innocents like Chicago’s Heaven Sutton, as much a ” hate ” crime victim as the little girls murdered by classic klansmen September15, 1963 inside a Birmingham, Alabama church!!!

Obama supporters hear growing grumbling in once euphoric ranks.
America’s first Black president and progressive champion has had his superhero image tarnished of late.
Epic joblessness and malaise form potent political Kryptonite.
Republican Congressional opposition rivals that of any comic book arch villain and his followers.
He leapt tall historic barriers in a single bound- a fact even hyper partisan foes readily concede. However, the national day dream where he would bend a broken economy back into shape now teeters on psychic life support.
Obama’s superhero image isn’t totally moribund. Black voters cling tenaciously to his imaginary cape despite crushing unemployment figures. Other minorities and Independents have likewise not chosen the Phanton Zone option thus far regarding his presidency.
The President’s superhero image is giving way to more terrestrial realizations that the change his campaign promised still hasn’t arrived.
That said, 2012 will decide if America still considers Obama its superhero. For creative activists the lesson is as plain as graphic novel pages: never promise too much and do what you promise.

Warning: this isn’t an anti-Obama rant; far from it! It’s a call to action for a community that has had to save itself as opposed to awaiting political help from on high.
Things are so bad ( Black male unemployment alone is at a 40 year high! ); morale so low and prospects so bleak that Black folks need to “suit up” and creatively tackle this Depression.
I’m not preaching separatism by the way- I’m preaching survival! On an integrationist note the moans and groans figuratively heard across town are our White country men suffering too.
My fevered imagination pictures two limping figures holding onto each other hobbling toward the sunset- one t-shirt reads, “Black Power?”; the other, ” White Privilege? ” each agreeing they’ve seen much better days. Against this backdrop, the old animosities are luxuries we can ill afford.
On the plus side “superhero” mindsets often emerge from periods of unrelenting mass misery. That said, the Hood should already resemble Gotham City, awash with crusaders and self-appointed knights jousting a misery index swelling to gargantuan proportions.
Our unsolved crime rate; our chronic life style mortality and other issues are to critical to accept thinking the president is going to swoop down from the sky to save the Hood or Black America period!
Turning this tide around on our own offers the country a model for recovery that doesn’t bust budgets nor gut entitlements.
There are Black folks who’ve been wearing the “cape” of community uplift for awhile. I’m just trying to increase their ranks.
Sisters, brothers- take the cape off Obama and try it on for size where you live!

Now THIS is interesting news.
Apparently, for the past 21 years, the superhero world has had a member I knew nothing about. His name is Captain Ozone, and he has been saving endangered species, promoting renewable energy and ecological art, and teaching school kids how to become environmental activists on television.
I received a press release today that informed me Captain Ozone (“considered by many to be the most phenomenal environmental activist of all time.”) allegedly started the modern-day “real-life superhero” movement when he made his debut in 1989.
The masked superhero apparently claims to be from the year 2039 from whence he time-traveled to 1989 on a mission to save the world from an ill-fated future.
Unfamiliar with Captain Ozone, I decided to view a video documentary about his superhero achievements so as to be better informed. If you want to follow suit, click here. I think it is worth the visit.
If you check out the video, you’ll notice that Captain Ozone isn’t as svelte as some other superheroes you’ve seen. And his high-tech equipment is reminiscent of stuff you probably watched Maxwell Smart use in the “Get Smart” TV series in the mid-1960s.
While Captain Ozone is similar in some ways to other costumed crime fighters, he is unique in others. Those interviewed in the video describe him as “an artist, a scientist, a sly jokester, and a noble defender of natural resources.” He also is oddly described as a “bean eating flatulating superhero.”
Make of this what you will.
According to the press release, Captain Ozone wants America to be the vanguard of the Green Power revolution, and he is “all for Obama’s New Energy for America plan.”
So with that said, I inform you that Captain Ozone and Environmental Media Northwest are leading what they claim will be the biggest peaceful demonstration for renewable energy ever! It is called “Green Power Rally,” and it is going to take place in many cities throughout the US and Canada on July 31, 2010.
By definition, Green Power Rally is to be an optimistic peaceful demonstration to raise public awareness and support for zero-emissions energy sources such as solar, wind, geothermal, and hydro power.
Hung up a bit on getting to know Captain Ozone, I didn’t look into the actual rally, but you can if you like. And if you want to become a peaceful demonstrator for Green Power Rally, you can sign up here.
Oh, and if you want to contact Captain Ozone directly, you can find him on Myspace listed under CaptainOzone.

“Leave Obama alone!” grunts the suited man, as Hillary Clinton is shown mocking her rival on the TV in this smoky bar. “Let her talk, she’s telling the truth,” his companion retorts through a bottle of beer. “Obama doesn’t know what he is doing. Hillary’s got the experience for the top job.”
Such a conversation might be commonplace in bars from Houston to Cleveland as the U.S. warms up for decisive Democratic primaries in Ohio and Texas. But this one is being conducted in Spanish, hundreds of miles south of the Rio Grande. U.S. elections grab attention around the world in ways that no other foreign election does, because the outcome of the race to lead the last economic and military superpower could have consequences everywhere.
The connection is even more pronounced in Mexico, where the government estimates that fully half of the population has family in the United States. And many of the issues being debated by the candidates — immigration, the North American Free Trade Agreement and a war in Iraq that Mexico was asked to support — have long been concerns of the Mexican public.
In 1996, a Mexican activist-wrestler who calls himself Superbarrio Gomez even declared himself a “candidate” for U.S. president, and held mock campaign rallies on both sides of the border. Wearing a superhero cape and wrestler outfit, Superbarrio promised to abolish the Border Patrol and Drug Enforcement Agency, “to deal a blow to international drug trafficking.”
But this year, Mexicans are more interested in what the American candidates are saying. The war of words between Obama and Clinton has been plastered across the front pages of Mexican newspapers and aired in prime time TV news shows. Many Mexicans are impressed that a woman or a black man could lead their powerful northern neighbor, a possibility that makes them reflect on the social hierarchies in their own country. Mexico has never had a woman president and no Mexican of pure Indian roots has headed the nation in more than a century. “When a black man arrives to be President of the United States, and even more when the child of black and white — a mulatto — it will be like the first Christian emperor of the pagan Roman Empire,” wrote columnist Paz Flores in the Mexican newspaper El Norte. “It will be the beginning of the end and the start of something new.”
Living hundreds of miles away from black-Hispanic tensions that plague some U.S. cities, many here identify with Obama as a person of color challenging a traditionally white power structure. Others like the candidate simply because he is a charismatic figure whose speeches are able to move even those for whom English is a second language.
“Obama speaks more directly and to the point than the others,” says Veronica Aguilera, 30, an architect from the Mexican capital. “You feel he is saying what he really believes.” Still, Hillary Clinton maintains a solid fan base in Mexico. Many here are still grateful for the Clinton Administration’s 1994 financial bailout of Mexico during the peso crisis. Senator Clinton’s criticism of NAFTA also finds sympathy here, where millions of corn and bean farmers say U.S. imports are destroying their livelihoods.
For some Mexicans, the issues is not Hillary or Obama, but simply getting the Democrats back into the White House. Political analyst Jose Antonio Crespo argues that either one, as President, would improve relations with Mexico, although he sees Clinton’s experience as giving her an edge. “A victory for Obama would represent more of a radical change,” he says. “But Hillary Clinton would be a more realistic leader.”
Others see the ascent of a former First Lady as worrying sign of family political power, comparing it to a recent bid for the presidency by a Mexican first lady. Marta Sahagun, wife of former President Vicente Fox, had positioned herself as a candidate to follow her husband, but eventually declared she would not run for office as her husband’s administration faced allegations of corruption over the national lottery.
Despite Mexicans’ traditional sympathy for the Democrats, Senator John McCain also has plenty of supporters south of the border, because of his track record on immigration. “There has been a lot of immigrant bashing in the campaign but McCain has not been part of it,” says Rep. Jose Jacques Medina, a leftist lawmaker who was an immigrant activist in California for more than 30 years. “It’s surprising, but the candidate with the best record on immigration is a Republican.”
