Stunned Americans and good people globally await revelation about WHY suspect James Holmes went on a historic masked murder spree that one ” real life superhero ( RLSH ) ” activist named Anti Hero labeled as the work of a ” real life super criminal. ”

Let’s take comfort in stories of real life heroism which media is sharing.
Even in the face of such terrifying danger some thought of others and acted accordingly. Caring about the next person even if it risks our lives is one sure defense against what I hope will NEVER become a trend:” real life super criminals” using comic book culture to embellish rampages.
Our hands are full enough with so-called “normal” sociopaths; gangs and the like.
Marvel at the real life heroism Holmes encountered.

Our beloved comic book culture, as fans and for some. superhero theme activists, was used as a back drop to commit mass murder inside an Aurora Colorado movie premier of ” the Dark Knight Rises. “
Americans and world citizens who love this medium should look deeply into unfolding events and resolve to use one of its core values, individual vigilance to enhance public safety, to help people better secure what’s always been society’s soft under belly: theaters; malls; stores, eateries, etc.
Members of what media calls ” the real life superhero ( RLSH ) ” now have a golden opportunity to put aside petty squabbles in the face of a masked assault embodying the worst villainy of fact and fiction. Their use of superhero imagery can assume new seriousness in wake of this tragedy.
The Free World is being tested these days. From domestic crime to foreign terrorism free people are being battered by angry dissidents and worse. Those who enjoy comic books unbridled freedom and the few who even take this to the streets should unite to pump new life into tired appeals about being vigilant in public.
Whether this shooter is a loner or part of a plot our beloved comic book culture nonetheless has preached awareness against sudden evil from its inception. We ( meaning fans and activists ) shouldn’t go spastic and stage embarrassing fan boy pr exercises or misguided vigilantism as clumsy attempts to calm a frightened populace.
Using our beloved comic book culture as fans and activists to creatively high light the need for real life vigilance will be more than enough.
Our fictional heroes and heroines once again have shown us the way.
Whether we use their example to make horrible facts like this movie massacre history remains to be seen.

Crack is the looming unearthly invader in my life as someone raised in a the inner city BC ( Before Crack ).
Crack transformed my neighborhood into a ” Hood ” with all that entails. We devolved from a Southern-fried version of the Cosby Show to an all Black real life production of Escape From New York, which cast me in the improbable role  of Snake Plissken ( LOL ).

I can’t forgive crack dealers for the humanity they stole from my neighborhood. Like literal scenes from a George Romero zombie movie furniture began vanishing from porches so frequently they had to either be brought in or with my grand parents chained to the porch railing.

Crack heads began wondering the streets like the famed director’s undead nit looking for people to eat but rocks to smoke with equal vigor.
All the horror and science fiction movies I watched with my grandfather were prequels to this bleak new reality for Inner City America.
I compare the roll call of cities hit by Soviet missiles in the movie Damnation Alley to those crack ravaged from the 80s forward.

The Martians and nameless aliens in Independence Day were more merciful: they offered extinction level death ray assault with explanation or mercy.

Crack dealers prefer slow motion attrition so they can profit for decades off addicts  hungry for what’s destroying them.
Mutants in the original Planet of The Apes series at least got telekinetic powers in exchange for radiation deformed bodies.


In real life crack heads only got whatever flights of fancy each hit lauches inside brains and bodies wasting away before their wide glassy eyes.
I’m one of those who watched this erupt around him- just like in a Romero zombie. I fought it back home and anywhere else!


One day life proceeds as normal until an invisible  point of no return is crossed without warning… or mercy!!!
So far, the War of the Worlds within Inner City America has the invaders and zombies winning.
I am legend perhaps?

Like Enoch the intelligent lizard man from the original Land of The Lost TV series,


I’m cursed/blessed ( take your pick ) to remember what the Hood was like before a real life war of The World hit it.
As a caretaker of a lost culture of dignity and hope all I can do is fight the Good Fight; champion these values and find others who practice the same.
That’s my report as a remnant of the Hood before a literal War of the Worlds conquered it!

After all I’ve been put through-I considered strongly just walking away from everyone.
But I think its now more then ever we need people..good people-to be beacons of light in this dark world.
The best thing you can do is cast off all negativity. It has helped me a lot. And I have found that when you turn your back on negative people they tend to change their attitude and become positive- so you really aren’t turning your back at all.
I used to be negative all the time after everything and looking at the big picture- my motto now is that you are in control of your mood so if you wake up each determined to have a good day it will usually happen.
I smile way more now. I have helped a lot of people- you guys come forward to lift me up when its a struggle and I thank each and everyone of you.
And like a wise person said to me-someone I cherish “You have been an inspiration to so many people. I think that you do need to put yourself first sometimes though.”
And I do.
Ill never give up helping people-or being who I am. We all are needed to lift each other up. Its not about fame-or heroics-or self gain. Its about common decency. Treating those around us as we want or need to be treated. About being better then all that came before us. Shaping the next generation whose lost their way.
Its about hope.

( NEW ORLEANS ) President Barack Obama will be here July 25th to address the National Urban League conference and have a campaign fund raiser at the famed  House of Blues.
I suggest he donate left over food from this fundraiser as a tangible way to touch desperate lives beyond distant policy making and social service delivery.
The CBD area where this will be held is quite a study in stark contrasts: people asleep on the sidewalk; begging food money in front of fast food places and asleep in doorways of closed businesses at night.
I call this ” micro-good. ” Whatever meals this provides won’t end New Orleans hunger forever. That’s something we must do whenever our hearts and political will reach that zenith.
One more unsolicited request: have the President give out some of the food. This one act will say more about his stance on combating poverty than all the budget items argued in Congress.
Mr President, this one proposed act of micro-good could set a presidential precedent for generations!
As my late grandmother and Obama supporter used to say on the eve of great events, ” This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it! ”

BRUTALITY.
                  HUNGER.
                               HOMELESSNESS.
I call these crisis  “the Big Three Evils.”
We must oppose them without hesitation nor excuses!
Otherwise we’re worthless.
While I type and you read people are being brutalized who don’t have to be; are hungry literally surrounded by food and without shelter in the shadow of sorrounding structures???
Such avoidable misery puts the lie to arrogant claims that humanity is so advanced. Creative activists in the “real life superhero ” ( RLSH ); extreme altruist ( X ALT ) and citizen patrol ( CP ) communities have made opposing the Big Three Evils their industry standard.
Violent crime is the visible destruction of what happens quietly regarding hunger and homelessness. Notice sirens wail and flashing lights regarding violence but none upon discovering empty stomachs with no roof overhead?
Creative activists role is to spotlight the Big Three; help them on our own and rally citizens into the greatest potential mass movement possible: arresting violent crime; hunger and homelessness until they cease to exist.
High flown rhetoric? Perhaps. But stopping the Big Three Evils isn’t impossible. The micro-good creative activists accomplish on budgets infinitely less than those of the Department of Health and Human Services or USDA is daily proof.
More than any terror cell or rogue nation the Big Three Evils of brutality; hunger and homelessness test assumptions about being co-called caring human beings.
Every violence victim; hunger victim and homelessness victim are points on the Cosmic Scoreboard for the Big Three Evils.
Each small act reducing the Big Three Evils counts on the Cosmic Scoreboard too!
Suiting up and taking to the playing field of real life against the Big Three Evils is the only choice that makes sense!

Black men are routinely portrayed as crime figures- not crime fighters! Those choosing criminality and promoting it culturally ( in music; videos; clothing; etc ) now face rising opposition.
Detroit 300 is a very proactive, majority Black male citizen patrol working with police in a no-nonsense manner to get more chocolate Klansmen arrested!
HURRAY! AMEN! ALL PRAISES DUE TO GOD!!! These groups ( MAD DADS also immediately comes to mind ) represent the natural next step in the civil rights movement- opposing inner city violence without excuse nor apology.
We hae a Catch 22 regarding American public safety. Selective silence on Black homicide is seen elsewhere as support of crime.
Conversely too many Black men opposing crime would invariably prompt cries of ” vigilantism” from alarmed White observers more comfortable with perceived inaction.
While operating within the law, some Detroit 300 members and unaffiliated posers have crossed the line. Thankfully no George Zimmermans have emerged from their ranks and I don’t expect one to. They do a good job policing their own and are vital to culture change where they live.
Their legal war against rogue shooters; rapists and thieves is where the mainstream civil rights alphabet soup should be- fighting destructive elements within Inner City America.
WARNING: Black vigilantism is no better than vigilantism classic. Black versions of Byron Dela Beckwith ( activist Medgar Evers murderer ) and Bernhard Goetz ( New York’s Subway Vigilante ) represent horrific steps backward in advocacy.
Black male citizen patrols don’t have the luxury of violating rights or targeting suspects for summary assassination for at least two reasons.
POINT ONE: Vigilantism is wrong- no matter who does it.
POINT TWO: President and Attorney-General aside, we do not have enough clout among police; prosecutors and judges to provide ( illegal ) cover the way White vigilantes have until relatively recently.
Now, accused vigilantes of any color get tough treatment from the criminal justice system.
It’s against this back drop that the Detroit 300 and other Black male citizen patrols navigate with the danger of vigilantism allegations waiting in the wings more than other concerned citizens doing the same thing.
