It’s true that there is a disproportionate number of black Americans in prison than white for drug use. It’s also true that poor, disenfranchised people turn to drugs out of desperation than rich spoiled suburanites. It is equally true that rich people buy and use a lot of drugs, but perhaps the difference is that they can afford high priced lawyers to get them off. So it is probably more of a difference in justice between the rich and the poor than it is between whites and black. Should we really be asking how many rich blacks go to prison for drugs compared to poor blacks?

The violence was what brought down the heavy penalties! Coke ( powdered cocaine ) dealers don’t do drive bys or occupy blocks in highly visible gangs who always are involved in public infractions which draw law enforcement.
Gun crime, especially with body counts these guys amass, draws political pressure because it makes it appear as if authorities can’t maintain basic public safety.
Toss in the tragically inevitable death of by standers, especially infants & children & policy makers are compelled to do something about it.
I’m Black ( obviously LOL ) but using my color to excuse murder & addiction is something alien to me.
Whatever wrong crack dealers may have experienced the wrong they’re doing is infinitely worse.
They’ve caused the Klan to simply iron their sheets for the closet, confident young American Black boys and men will simply kill each other off!

I agree. It’s a catch 22 situation. While being poor and disenfranchised is no excuse for turning to crime, true, the easy money of the drug culture is a natural draw to poor people. Selling drugs leads to turf wars, violence and murders in power struggles. Although it pains me to say it the Klan has a point as most young black men in this country are murdered by other young black men. Education is the key to solving this crisis but we seem to live in a country that is more concerned about spending money on foreign wars than on educating it’s people. It’s a trend that needs to be reversed.

Well…, Though I agree that Crackheads & Crack Dealers are a BAD THING…., ABSOLUTELY…, However
It’s Clearly Historical Fact that Drug Laws Originate from Racism…, They Made Opium Illegal Because they were afraid The Chinese were sleeping with white women in the Opium Dens…, The First Anti Drug Laws were ones making it Illegal for Blacks to possess Cocaine Because Black slaves were sleeping with white women..,
The Anti drug Laws in This Country Ultimately Stem From = Racism, Fear of Political Rebellion, & the Profit Motive Because Drugs Illegal Are worth more Money than If they were Legal.., Well that & it’s more profitable to control the trade for many other reasons…, Marijuana for instance…, You can make better paper, Better Rope, Better Biodiesel, stronger fabric.., more oils for plastic manufacturing & Then there’s tons of Medicinal Uses.., but that goes for many other drugs too as far as the medicinal uses., We Have to go ASK PERMISSION to get medication & pay hundreds or maybe thousands of dollars to some doctors office then hundreds more dollars to a pharmaceutical company for something we could have otherwise treated ourselves by growing plants in our back yard or walking down to the local pharmacy & buying Dirt Cheap…
Gives the Real Drug Dealers a way to eliminate their competition,

Not Only are Drug Laws Racist in Origin but even moreso they are opportunistic & Make The Drug Trade More Profitable to drug dealers in the Same Way Alcohol Prohibition Made Alcohol more Profitable…, if ya don’t believe me ask Al Capone..
