{"id":16614,"date":"2012-01-03T17:35:29","date_gmt":"2012-01-03T17:35:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/59.6679"},"modified":"2012-01-03T17:35:29","modified_gmt":"2012-01-03T17:35:29","slug":"black-cop-appreciation-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rlsh.net\/archive\/2012\/01\/03\/black-cop-appreciation-month\/","title":{"rendered":"BLACK COP APPRECIATION MONTH"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/media\/set\/?set=a.100428266715061.451.100002436630651&amp;type=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><img alt=\"Nadra Enzi\" src=\"http:\/\/profile.ak.fbcdn.net\/hprofile-ak-ash2\/202904_100002436630651_5044177_n.jpg\" \/><\/strong><\/a><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/moveonup.ning.com\/profiles\/blogs\/black-cop-appreciation-month\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>http:\/\/moveonup.ning.com\/profiles\/blogs\/black-cop-appreciation-month<\/strong><\/a><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>BLACK COP APPRECIATION MONTH ( January 2012 )\u00a0is another effort to unite public safety&#8217;s two most ( ironically )\u00a0balkanized groups: Black male citizens and Black police officers.<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>In the spirit of Dr. King Black men\u00a0should\u00a0recognize\u00a0brothers and sisters in law enforcement as a &#8221; minority within a minority &#8221; whose unique experiences with discrimination include once not even\u00a0being able to arrest White people; being subjected to\u00a0more disciplinary action than peers\u00a0and the unique frustration of\u00a0not being\u00a0&#8221;\u00a0Black enough for some in the community and not blue enough for\u00a0some fellow officers. &#8220;<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Black citizen\/police unity\u00a0creates relationships\u00a0and\u00a0shares\u00a0resources necessary to reduce murder rates\u00a0rivaling Third World casualties. <\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>In some ways creating such unity constitutes another quantum leap in\u00a0civil rights. <\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Eventually this can give rise to\u00a0teams of Black male citizens\u00a0and police\u00a0patrolling high crime areas addressing quality of life and safety issues as shareholders instead of\u00a0current cold war conditions.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Is a simple word of appreciation or\u00a0 &#8221; thank you &#8221; invitation for Black officers\u00a0to dine at local Black owned restaurants\u00a0asking too much?<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Especially when crime and mutual hostility threaten both Black male citizens and Black officers more than\u00a0other Americans?\u00a0<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>NADRA<\/strong><strong> ENZI AKA CAPT BLACK promotes creative activism in crime prevention; homeless outreach and political advocacy.
